The Star Surround QAL

I need another project like I need a hole in the head!!  Sew, I've decided to join a quilt along!

Melissa at Happy Quilting is hosting a QAL using her new Star Surround block.  Isn't it pretty?

She has lots of block size options and project size options.  I am making two 16" blocks to use as pillow tops with some of the batiks that bloggy friend Leona sent me a couple weeks ago.

It's evening, these colors aren't quite right.
While coming home from dropping DS off at my mom's house, I stopped in at The Wooden Spool in Effingham, IL.  The store has a large selection of solids from various manufacturers.  This brown is called "bison" from Timeless Treasures.

I had pulled a darker brown batik from my stash but it wasn't quite right.  Any excuse to buy some more fabric!  Check out what other quilters are quilting along over at Melissa's.  Did I mention there will be prizes?

    I laughed when I read the first line of this post as I though exactly the same thing when I saw this quiltalong! Still I had to join in too - I think its because its such a lovely design. I'm making the 4x4 version of the 16" blocks. Looking forward to starting to put it all together.
